Delisoba Deluxe #BestOfSaturn

Delisoba Deluxe was a giveaway to studio audiences (possibly, contestants) of the Japanese TBS game show Tokyo Friend Park 2. On the show, contestants engaged in various video mini games, including “Delisoba,” where one player played the video game on a bike and a second contestant balanced boxes of soba noodles in one hand. If the game player hit an obstacle or crashed, force-feedback affected the second player holding the boxes. The goal, of course, was not to drop your noodles.

The show’s game was then adapted for the Saturn by Cave and re-titled “Delisoba Deluxe.” The Saturn game sees a motorcyclist ferrying a delivery boy who is balancing his boxes in one hand, though the gamer really only controls the bike. Complementing the main game are nifty Time Attack, Coin Link, and Track Editor modes.

The delivery route takes the player through city streets and countrysides, filled with traffic, cow crossings, and other obstacles. A good analog to Delisoba Deluxe is Road Rash — the game shares its visual style with EA’s classic and is surprisingly playable, despite being merely a novelty item.

On Christmas 2025, Exxistance released an English patch , converting virtually all the Japanese text for our gaming enjoyment of this awesome little title.

A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming 'firsts' were commonplace.  There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
