Yaba Sanshiro Improves Touch Screen Controls in Mobile Versions

Saturn emulator Yaba Sanshiro features better touch screen controls in its mobile versions after recent updates by its developer, Shinya “DevMiyax” Miyamoto.

On social media , DevMiyax posted a video showing off the improved touch screen controls and said, “Support for pressing multiple buttons with a single finger is fantastic — it really enhances the game experience!”

Other improvements in version 1.18.19 — released Dec. 30 on Android devices — include enhanced on-screen analog pad usability and improved state saving and loading stability.

Six days before that, version 1.18.14 made startup times faster by caching the game list, added support for pressing two buttons with one finger, and fixed a bug that caused “application not responding” errors when exiting a game.

Equivalent updates came to the iOS version of Yaba Sanshiro on Jan. 6 but are marked version 1.18.15 there.

The free Android version is  here  while the paid “Pro” version, which adds some extra features for US$5, is  here . The free iOS version is here while the paid iOS version is here .

Another update for Yaba Sanshiro on Android, called version 1.18.20, was released Jan. 10. DevMiyax said in his Discord server that it was for minor bug fixes and to add an error message when users use a front-end application to launch Yaba Sanshiro that’s in a different directory than the emulator.

This video posted by DevMiyax shows improves touch screen analog stick functionality.

Before the updates of the last few weeks, the most recent significant update to the Android version came in August last year when RetroAchievements were added.

DevMiyax also uploaded to YouTube a tutorial on New Year’s Day for new Android users of Yaba Sanshiro. It demonstrates how to back up real game discs using a Windows utility available on the official Yaba Sanshiro website , transfer backed up games to an Android device, install the emulator and use it.

Yaba Sanshiro began development in late 2015 as a fork of Yabause , an emulator that is no longer actively worked on, to bring it to Android devices. A PC version was released about a year later that’s been occasionally updated alongside the Android version — most recently, it was  updated in February 2025 .

Its name was changed to Yaba Sanshiro 2 in April 2021 after Google blacklisted the original app for including Action Replay cheats.

The emulator wasn’t approved for the Apple App Store until  August 2024  when Apple changed its policy regarding game emulators.
