Under the Microscope: Sound QubeSound Qube is a puzzle game from Media Entertainment and Human Entertainment . There’s a very thorough description of the gameplay at Sega Retro , but in a nutshell: You’re presented with a cube-like figure that’s made up of smaller cubes. You use “sonar” to sonar to eliminate groups of sub-cubes, based on their color. GameFAQs lists a cheat for the PlayStation version of this game (it activates a sound test mode), but it doesn’t work on the Saturn version. I hoped to find an equivalent code for Saturn, but found three others instead. Details are below! Level selectGo to the Option screen. Hold down Start and then enter this sequence: A, C, Up, Right, A, Down, Up, Left Ext the Option screen and then go to Level Select on the menu screen. You’ll be able to start on any of the game’s eight levels: Wireframe modePress Start to pause the game and keep it held down. Then enter this sequence: A, C, Up, Right, A, B, Left, C The cubes will become transparent: Stage clearPress Start to pause the game and keep it held down. Then enter this sequence: A, C, Up, Right, A, Right, A, B The Stage Clear message will appear (or Level Clear if you’re on the last stage of a level). You can go all the way to the end of the game this way: Technical detailsWhile looking for evidence of the Sound Test code from the PlayStation version, I noticed these strings in the game data: 060050c0 "ACURABLC" 060050cc "ACURARAB" 060050d8 "ACURADUL"Those are read by the function at 060050e4 , which has logic that looks like this: The function then saves the letter to the buffer starting at 060424e8 and then compares that buffer to the strings above. On the Pause screen it checks the first two strings; on the Option screen it targets the third one. OutroThanks for reading.
